Tribute: Fly, Free Spiritby R.M. Richards

An ever brightening star, glowing in honesty and truth.A journey into manhood is abruptly undone, and we now, gather to pay tribute to our favorite son. Having lived and loved so strongly, even adored for all its worth. Now at the hour of his sweet life’s journey, we bear the burden of grief and hurt.Promises of tomorrows, gone, yesterday’s memories live on and on to conquer the illusion of death. For the times we shared, we played and cared,we bonded with an intensity, we can never forget. The friendship we knew, when together we grew, without question, was the key to our selfless sibling rivalry. In your daily impressions, your curious expressions for knowledge of the great mystery. That glowing charm, the compassion and warmth of a sweet gentle soul, oh yes, I must admit, broken hearted I walk the line with you full of life, full of love, full of dreams, that blend with mine.I struggle with denial, in mental sackcloth and ashes and torture my restless psyche, with these rites of passage. So fly now free spirit.Let the rushing wind of your wings dry these scorching tears and soothe this terrible ache born of unfounded fears.Open windows of my refuge, let light infuse me and its walls will echo my joyous laughter.Fill my eyes with fire and my heart with the joy that witnessed you from Alpha to Omega. As I envision you, reborn majestic, from the seed of that gentle soul, a beauty, no space, nor time, nor boundaries hold. Now you, free of inhibiting form, the embodiment of love, fly, fly free spirit to worlds we mortals ne’er can dream of.

Glen, I worked with Glen from 1988 to 1999 at Guy Carpenter. He was a quite and gentle man. Glenn and I shared many good laughs together. We would partner up in the weekly football ball together he insisted on always picking the Miami Dolphins regardless of the points. We bowled together on Friday nights in the Insurance League. We attended each others anniversary luncheons and once we where in trouble for the amount how many bottles of Crystal we ordered. Glen there wasn't one moment that I thought about you on this tragic day. I was fortunate to have moved in 2000. I miss you rest in peace my friend,

I worked at Guy Carpenter when Glenn first came to the company, probably in 1986 or 1987. What a wonderful young man, quiet but friendly, learning the cash receipts end of treaty accounting. He was so good natured, you couldn't pull a practical joke on him, in good conscience.I am so sorry for his loss, and to his family and friends please accept my sincerest sorrow. God bless you, buddy, you're up there watching over all of us now.

I have the honor of reading your name in a special ceremony here in McKinney, TX. So far away from Ground Zero but yet so close. You worked with one of my high school teachers, Susan Murray, who was there that day along with your other colleagues. I am a Jersey girl transplanted here. My brother-in-law works at Moody's, just a block away but was traveling that day. My husband worked in the Woolworth building for many years. It could have been them, but it was you and Susan and so many others. Rest in peace.

I didn't know you, but from the comments posted you were a very special person and you resemble an old boyfriend of mine in highschool. 9/11 affected all of us in one way or another. Even though I am no where near New York, It still hurts to be reminded of what happened that fateful day. Everyone loss will forever be in our hearts.

My son-in-law just visited NYC from San Diego and brought me a bracelet from Ground Zero, chosen at random with Glenn's name on it. I will wear it always and never forget. I wish I had known Glenn; these tributes portray a wonderful person. I hope the tragedy of 9/11 will remind us always to be grateful for the blessings of freedom.

Tomorrow we start a new bowling season, but they are just not as much fun since you've been gone. How I loved watching you and Tommy chest-butt after making those many strikes and putting away another opponent. I was so glad to be your teammate when we took first place. I enjoyed your charm and wit. You are missed. God bless you.

More than a moment of silence, on this day and everyday may we use our lives to honor and respectfully remember you. With careful consideration we continue on where you could have gone, good left undone, countless gifts not given. We will not fail; we will not forget you, our precious family, our dear friend, our inspiration. Patricia & Charles Barraza

With a terrible sadness we mark this day, the third anniversary of the morning we lost each of you. In the end it is only a marker. The grief, sorrow and the incredible possibilities that we lost in those horrific moments remain with us every day. We weep, no, sob from a place deep, deep inside that has been left empty by your absence. And we pray, for you, your families, your friends, and your colleagues. And for ourselves may God give us the strength to go forward and honor you with our lives. We will never forget you. Patricia Barraza

Remembering - Just today I was looking at the picture from our summer 2001 outing where we were standing together smiling. I can remember that day so vividly, laughing and sharing that group moment. I wanted to write to say we remember you and think of you as we go on. We miss your being, but feel your presence. I believe that your spirit is our angel watching over us in a dangerous world. Remembering you keeps you with us and brings us peace in turmoil. In this season of renewal and everyday since we “lost” you we keep you and your loved ones in our thoughts and prayers. Peace to you.

Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the softly falling snow. I am the gentle showers of rain. I am the fields of ripening grain. I am the morning hush. I am the graceful rush of beautiful birds in circling flight. I am the star shine of the night. I am the flowers that bloom. I am in a quiet room. I am the birds that sing. I am in each lovely thing. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there.I did not die.' ...Mary Frye, Baltimore MD, Circa 1933 Alive in our hearts forever... Spirits-:A Tribute to victims of WTC 9/11 Spirits of our beloved are here trapped in a world that witnessed their sudden and violent end Spirits needing closure, spirits needing peace. Spirits are here and while, we desperately feel the need to communicate, our innate desires only ignite the fires that obscure the way to heavens gate. Spirits are here, let us acknowledge their presence with reverence. Let us pray for their guidance and transition in peace. They should not be doomed to haunt the halls and grounds of monuments erected in their honor. This place is hallowed ground, holding secrets still unfound a shrine for friends and families, who silently grieve and believe soon closure will come. Entomed in this ground is my own, my blood, my flesh, my bone. Ipray, Mother Earth, let go, let God give peace and sanctuary to this beautiful and restless soul I know. Spirits are here, we are their medium from without and within, they have endured as we have endured. We must roll away the stone and let the closure begin. Allow them a well deserved journey, in peace, to everlasting glory. Quietly and reverently, let go and let God.

I worked with Glenn at Guy Carpenter. He was a very gentle caring individual. He loved sports and was very kind to me. I needed a triptik from AAA quickly. Glenn went to the AAA office in his neighborhood and brought me the info the following day. I remember you in my prayers.
