Harry: Missed posting on the 11th, but you are thought of often

On 9/11/12 was thinking today of many people I knew who were lost in this tragic event but Harry came to my mind first. When Harry and I started our careers together in the summer of 1982 as part of the AT&T Programmer Basic Training program, Harry was an incredibly positive individual, happy, smart, energetic and always had the Harry Gleen trademark smile. Harry was a "life affirming" individual and positively impacted everyone he came across. While I only knew Harry for a short amount of time in what seems so long ago, today, Harry came to the forefront of my mind on this annual rememberance. Harry, you are missed by all those who had contact with you and are remembered.

So much time has passed since I last shared a laugh with my good friend. I so much much my friend. May God bless the Glenn family.

Never met the man, but did see his son reading his name. He looks like a great young man. You would be proud of your work while on earth.

Ten years, and it still seems like yesterday..... I saw the planes hit, watched the towers fall; and reminded everyone that people were in those buildings - Still cant believe that Harry was one of them..... I can still hear him yelling across the cubicle, "How bout those KNICKS?"

Yo I grew up with hary G since elememtary school. He was my role model and I never got the chance to let him know that. God bless his wife and son and the entire glenn family.

Thinking of you today. Missing you dearly and knowing that you are with The Father gives me comfort. I will continue to carry your memory in my heart every day. I love you and miss you today and every day!

two beer harry, that's not the only way I remember him, but just thinking of that now. Thinking back to the way he would talk about Sharon and Jalen, it seems impossible, unreal that he wouldn't grow old with them. I just lost my father, and so went back to South Africa, and climbed Lions Head and scratched his name on a pole on the top, with the most tremendous views of Cape Town. That's where I scratched Harry's name... to remember him whenever I go there... warm wonderful human being... so glad I met him... thinking of Sharon and Jalen... and the three beers I just had..

Harry I still cant believe you are not here. I pray for your wife and son always. You are always in my thoughts and prayers and espically at this time of year. Will see you at the pearly gate. You are an angel missing from earth but one heaven is no longer missing.

A co-worker and I were speaking about the World Trade Center Disaster and I immediately thought of Harry and googled his name. I came across this site and had to pay tribute to Harry despite the years that have gone by. Of all the guys in my neighborhood growing up in Jackie Robinson Apartment Houses, Harry Glen was "The Gentleman". He was by far, one of the sweetest, kindest, and most repectful guys in the neighborhood. A smile comes across my face when i remember Harry because the first time I got behind a wheel was with Harry. He attempted to teach me how to drive. It didn't go well and I never told anyone our secret. I kinda hit some parked cars. LOL..They say the good die young. Harry was a true "Gentleman".

Harry for the many years I have known you and sharon your wife who is my very best friend I was at your wedding and you and sharon was at my wedding we got married at the same hall in queens new york, I realy miss talking to you, you became my friend throuh sharon and the day that happened am still lost for words, and still cannot believe you are gone, the world not only lost a perfect gentleman a husband and father I lost my friend, you will remain with me always and I know you are in heaven resting in peace looking down on sharon and jalen keeping them safe. I can still see Harry's warm and friendly smile. What a nice man. To God be the glory for this nice man.

It's been 8 years and I am just now seeing this site that a friend sent to me. I don't even know where to begin. There isn't a time that goes by where the mention of the WTC attack or 9/11 goes by that I don't think of Harry. I worked with Harry for many years at AT&T and knew him from the time he came until he left. I had the pleasure of working with him closely on several occasions and we used to always joke and debate about "process" and whether we needed it or not. The last time I saw Harry was in Red Lobster, he and his son. I will always remember Harry for the smart, funny and kind person that he was! One day soon, Harry, we will meet again.....

I stumbled upon this site 3 years ago, and have finally decided it is time to release my tears - Harry was everything mentioned(and more)... Its a wonderful thing to think of a person, see his smile, and remember nothing but pleasantries ALWAYS exchanged when in his presence - Thanks Harry.... My Soul Brother and Friend.

I did not work directly with Harry at AT&T but knew him as we both worked in the East Brunswick building. Not only on this day but especially on this day I think of Harry and like many of the posts on this site, his smile. God Bless you Harry.

You are always on my mind and in my heart.......

I will always remember our rapping we did when we changed the lyrics from"Down with OPP" to "Down with CPP" ......

AT&T @ East Brunswick was probably the best consulting job I had because of the people I met, Bob (rest in peace), Hemant, Joebba, Jeff l., Jeff T...the list goes on and of course you Harry, the coolest, sharpest IT manager around !!!

Harry Glenn was a wonderful person who I had the honor to work closely with at AT&T. He was my first boss and there is not many days that go by that something he showed me through his actions, words, or "way" doesn't seep into how I handle myself at work. I considered Harry a true friend and often think of how his family are doing....

Dearest Harry,

This is the first time I have had the 'nerve' to look for this info. Having preferred 2 imagine that you had escaped... I met you @ AT&T in EBruswick.., HARRY...You with your Wonderful sense of humor and SHARP Wit, Intelligent, WISE.. and not to mention a Classy Dresser, always kept everyone charmed with your smiles and laughter.

We crossed paths for over 10 years until WTC.

I remember last seeing you just when you started working @ Marsh and I was starting @ Lehman.

So hard to think of that day at all..I know you were ALWAYS on TIME damnit! and I knew although I could never, wouldn't admit it.. You Were a HERO in those LAST MOMENTS!! I JUST KNOW YOU WERE A tireless ANGEL. Your Essence is the True gift of your presence & it lives on....IT LIVES ON in ALL of US! I always Keep your family in my prayers.

(Of the relationships listed, I chose "friend" even though I never knew Harry because both of us graduated from NCCU.)

Think of you and your family regularly and keep in touch with your son just because I,m an EAGLE, too.

I worked with Harry at AT&T. We both left the company around the same time. I went to work at AIG in the city when I left AT&T. Several years after we both left AT&T I ran into Harry at a children's furniture store in Hillside NJ. He was picking up something for his family and he had a great big smile on his face (he always had a great big smile). He gave me a big hello. He told me he worked in the WTC and we traded phone numbers with the idea to meet for lunch. I later called Harry and we discussed work and family. He mentioned that he had interviewed at AIG but had not received an offer. He later took the job at Marsh in the WTC. We never found the time for lunch, but I always think of the fact that he could have possibly worked at AIG and might be here today. I guess it was fate that he did not get the AIG job. After I learned of his loss I always think - what if........... and remember the last time we met - that big wide smile and friendly hello. While we all miss Harry I know his wife and family have it the hardest. God bless them all and may Harry rest in peace.

Harry was a colleague of mine at AT&T in Piscataway and East Brunswick...my first office partner. We had fun times yelling at our computer screens. "Two beer Harry" we called him, and he always laughed. Never a bad word to say about anyone. Thinking of you and your family on this day Harry. God be with you.

Harry - I spent some time at the Ground Zero site a few months ago while I was back east. Thought about you. Thought about what those final minutes must have been like. I'm sure you were running around trying to help others deal with what was happening. Helping people to keep it together as best as they could. We really do miss your leadership and your style, Harry. The rowdy sessions in the corner glassed-in conference room (you know, the one with the clear shot of the NYC Skyline). CAM. Profile Anomalies caused by timing errors. You and I were always the first ones there each and every morning. Remember? ICE COLD Diet Cokes first thing in the morning!? You Remember. Gotta tell you Harry, I've switched to DVC (Diet Vanilla Coke). ICE COLD DVC, Baby! We miss you, Harry. We really do.

I'll just echo what I said a year and a half ago - it (your death) still doesn't make any sense. I'm sure everyone you touched on this planet will agree - you will live on in our hearts and our minds forever!

On this two year anniversary of that tragic day, I had looked back to remember the people that I knew who were taken from us. Harry was one of those unfortunate victims who had made a difference in my life that I will NEVER forget. When working at AT&T, Harry had hired me to Lead his team. It was the very first leadership position that I had, and Harry’s confidence in my ability was truly genuine. I worked hard for Harry in return for his confidence in me. From that point on, I have excelled in my career path in leadership roles. This was all started with the trust and chance that Harry had given me. Harry, I will never forget what a magnificent gift you had given me. Thank you.

I was sad to learn that you were a victim of 9/11. In fact, I did not even know of your fate until the first anniversay of this tragic event. You were a client of mine when you were with AT&T. I remember your laugh, which came easily with a joke, and the smile which was a permanent feature of your face. Although we were not in contact for the last few years, I was nonetheless saddened to learn that you, too, were a victim of that horrendous day. The spirit of Harry Glenn lives on in others through the positive impression he always left them with. Harry was a colleague of mine at AT&T and I am quite certain that those of you at MMC had enjoyed the same good feelings when you encountered him as we at AT&T always experienced in his presence.

I worked with Harry that summer and even thought I had a short stay with the company Harry became close to me.I was able to confide in him... work problems and personal... regardless of what it was and always was willing to lend a helping hand. Harry was the one in the office that always smiled and that brought cheer to everyone who worked around him. "And all that good stuff" Thanks for getting me through that summer Harry, I will never forget you. To his family: my prayers will always be with you.
