Dear family of Rebecca, I went to high school with Becky and knew her to be one of the most sweet, vivacious, caring people I have ever met. She and I sang in the choir together where I saw her talent grow and flourish. I live in North Carolina now, but I have a special place in my heart for Sharon and the people who shaped my life when I was young. My Becky, I look at your beaming smile in the pictures I have of you. I miss you and your beautiful voice. You encouraged me to participate in choir, to swim and remember our jingley bracelets that got us dirty looks from fellow commuters. I remember the opera and our girls lunches. We laughed so much and shared so much. Tonight as I reflect I could definitely use a shawl over my shoulders. You were a caring and loving friend whose memory I will forever cherish!

Rebecca, I just wanted to take a moment to say how I still think of you often and miss our making music together. I can't believe it's been 10 years! Hopefully you are still rocking out and directing the angelic choir "upstairs". Take care my friend, Stephen

Becky was one of my husband's, Jim MacDonald's, best friends from college. She played the piano for us as I walked down the aisle at our wedding in September of 1987 in New York City. She cried happy tears the entire time she played and continued to cry throughout the entire ceremony and as we hugged afterward. She will always be in our hearts.

Rebecca, the MMC Chorale (as it's known now) sang "Just a Single Voice" in your honor at the Marsh & McLennan Companies' 10th Anniversary Memorial Service on Friday, just as it was sung at your memorial service. You are still in our hearts and may you rest in peace.

Rebecca lives in my heart as a singer of extraordinary sweetness and heart. She was as lovely as she was talented. Thank you, Rebecca, for being part of my life.

I'm on a gig, and thought of you. I want you to know, I sang the song 'Wind Beneath My Wings' and dedicated it to your memory. Funny thing - my voice was ragged tonite, but when I sang that song it was clear as a bell. I guess you were helping me.

I still think of you, and miss you...and miss singing with you.

I grew up with Becky and knew her as someone that didn't care who you were (I was a bit of a troublemaker) she saw the good. Becky was someone destined to be on stage with immense musical talent and it did not surprise me that she landed in NY City.

I hadn't seen or even been home to Sharon in decades but was in NJ when the towers fell. It was close and personal for me until I heard about Becky. It became even more personal.

The tribute for her in Sharon was something I was drawn to and could not explain it. I felt the tears of her family as I knew them all. They were and are good people who were good to me, so I made sure to attend (although there was one closer to me).

I stopped and saw my father who was 87 and not doing well on that trip. It turned out to be the last time I saw him alive as he passed shortly after.

I think of Becky often and am thankful for that last gift from her.

My prayers are with her family, now and most days.

Each year on the anniversary, my thoughts turn to this event and the fact that I personally knew someone who perished. I will NEVER forget the fact that you went down to Broadway and picked up some Broadway "stuff" from the show Les Mis, for our daughter Heather.. you didn't hesitate at the request and was a true measure of your character.. You are missed!!!

I didn't know we had this site, but, although I've found it only because of the imminent fifth anniversary of that dreadful day, I'm glad I'm finally here, at Rebecca's place in that rememberance.

I was privileged as a Marsh Singer to work with Rebecca for an all-too-short time. Her enthusiastic spirit, her up-beat style and, of course, her musicality are permanent positive parts of my memory. She gave so much in quality of music and quality of life in our brief time together. I've kept an unforgettable affection for who she was and what she obviously meant to others.

It is an unanswerable mystery why people like Rebecca, the real quality of the world, sometimes leave so soon. It is, if nothing else, a reminder that the gifts of ourselves that we give to others are measured with each day. That if a day is unexpectedly your last, you have used the days you had in ways that mark the lives of many others, those you touch and those beyond. Thank you, Rebecca, for filling those days you had with us with the gift of your talent and uplifting spirit. Even those of us who knew you briefly have been changed forever.

I still have the recommendation letter you did for me when I was about to move abroad. I will keep it for ever, just to remember how special person you are!!

i miss you sooooooooooo much roomie, as i listen to your amazing voice!

I heard so much about you from a friend of mine who sings in the Marsh Singers group. She told me about you-- your compassion, your generosity, your dedication, your determination, and of course, your incredible talent. I'm sorry I did not have the opportunity to meet you here, yet, at your Singers' performance of the Requiem in the courtyard on September 11, it felt as though you were there in person, conducting your beloved choir. I wept as they sang, as the heart-wrenching grief of that horrible day a year ago re-visited me like waves. It was truly a beautiful and moving performance by your dedicated singers - and I am certain the winds carried their voices to you.

May your family and friends find solace in knowing your music still lives on, and that I am certain you are still conducting all your Singers from above.

Dear Becky, I never had the priviledge of knowing you in this life, but I wore your name over my heart while I sang the Mozart Requiem at a Memorial Tribute in Santa Monica, CA on 9/11/02. I needed to know you after that, so I read everything I could find. I had originally wanted to find the name of someone from PA to wear on that night because I went to medical school in Wilkes-Barre, but then thought, no, I'm singing for all of them. When I arrived at the church for the concert rehearsal, they handed me a 1x4" white label with a red heart on it and your name in black italics under "In Memory Of". I was very pleased that we were all going to wear a name since it had been so much on my mind. At the moment that I put it on, the entire event became very personal to me, in a very different way. I now had someone who I had "lost", even though I didn't know you. I don't believe in accidents or coincidence, so the gift of your name was not a random event. After reading everything I could find about you, I was stunned to find that you were, in fact, from PA, that you were a singer and entertainer and musician, that you loved animals and especially cats, that you helped others, and guided children, and that your smile lighted rooms. I am a few years older than you, but share all of the same likes. I saw your smiling picture and the tributes in the newspaper, and have printed them out. You will now always be "a friend" and always be in my prayers. Keep singing in the astral world, and at some point in time we will meet. As you know, the final words of the Requiem that I sang with all my heart last night are "Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis" - Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. I knew your brother Tim, used to cut his hair. and your mom a few times too. I went to Buhl Park today. They have trees planted there in your name,from your family. Its up on the kite field. Very spiritual there. They are birch trees. the wind makes the leaves sing.

I'm one of the many cross-stitchers working on a memorial quilt. By chance I drew your name and wanted to know who you were. From all the wonderful tributes written about you, for you and to you, I'm only sorry I never got to meet you in person.

Dear Rebecca,

I remember the first time I met you, 14 years ago, when I got my first computer and Joel suggested you teach me how to use it. You came and sat with me, started speaking in a foreign language (computer jargon) and your hands moved faster than lightning. You asked me if I got it, I smiled and when you left I went to Joel and said, I didn’t understand a word she said! Years later, when you were on vacation and I filled in for you with Mike, he stood behind me and said, “why are you doing it that way, that’s not the way Becky does it”. Well, no one did it the way Becky did it -- no one could!

You mesmerized and moved us with your beautiful voice. You amused us with your husband-wife like arguments with your boss, Mike, and you had a smile that lit up the entire office. We shared the good times and bad times and we were all so happy for you when you found happiness. Your concerts in the lobby were an event none of us would miss, you were our “own celebrity” and we were so proud of you. When you sent me a picture of your CD cover, I told you how beautiful you looked - - just like a movie star. Now you will be our star in the heavens and always in our hearts. I will miss you …till we meet again.

I came to know Rebecca as a member of the Marsh Singers for which she acted as conductor and accompanist. Rebecca came into our lives at the last minute when we were getting ready for our annual Holiday Concert. Our conductor had just left Marsh to take another job and we didn't know what we were going to do. One of the members said that she knew a woman, who would be perfect for the position, who happened to live in her building. And then Rebecca showed up at rehearsal...beaming and enthusiastic. Saved! We worked with her every week for an hour during our lunch break. She was so dedicated. It amazed me that she would make the trip from WTC to our midtown office and always show up with a smile. Her ability to lead, sing, pick out interesting repertoire, accompany, and bring out the best in all of us will never be forgotten. She had a glorious voice. I remember Rebecca asking me if I would sing a solo for our summer concert and collaborating with her on how the song would be presented to the audience. "Cabaret" will never sound the same! She could make you laugh by saying to us when we sang wrong notes "I couldn't tell....remember I can't hear out of that ear".

I only knew Rebecca a short while but it felt like we had been collaborating and singing together forever. I will always cherish our time together and the joy she brought into my life. I miss and think about you everyday. Take care sweetie.

May she be conducting her "angelic choir"?
